2014 Season

Dear Field Hockey Players and Guardians,

Welcome to Browns River Middle School’s 2014 Field Hockey Season! We want to start

off by saying that we are looking forward to and very excited for our practices and the start of our competitions.

First, my name is Mari MacDonnell. I grew up in Jericho, VT and graduated with the class of 2001 from MMU. While attending BRMS, I played the wonderful game of Field Hockey on the same field that we play on today! I fell in love with the game the moment I picked up a stick and I still play today in a summer program at UVM.

I love coaching! In the past, I have coached Field Hockey for the Burlington International Games and I have also been the JV Women’s Lacrosse coach for the past three seasons. I am looking forward to a wonderful few weeks playing the game I love most!

Now, lets introduce Kimi! My name is Kimi Kenney I grew up in Richmond, VT and I am 20 years old. I am the youngest of 5 kids and I go to Johnson State College to study Hospitality and Tourism Management. I have been playing Field Hockey since I was five years old and started at Paige Manning’s (MMU’s head coach) camp. Also, both of my sisters played, so I naturally wanted to join in. I played for CHMS, than MMU, and was the goal keeper every year. I really enjoyed the game and have been missing it, so to say the least, I am so excited for this coaching job!

Our goals for the season are to have everyone excel at the fundamentals of the game. Basic, “field hockey 101” skills needs to be mastered before advancements. We plan to help each player reach this goal while having fun, teaching structure, dedication, and discipline. We are hoping to not only be a coach, but also a teacher and mentor to this team.
